The Last Molfar: Khovanets

Khovanets (also called ‘house devil’) is a spirit who resides in a house and helps the homeowners with domestic tasks, safeguards the dwelling, and also brings wealth, useful acquaintances and insights, and a good harvest. If homeowners have a good relationship with Khovanets, he will only take a small material fee for his services. That’s why in wealthy villages, house devils often can show off rings, necklaces, and coins. However, if people become too greedy and behave unkindly, Khovanets may take more valuable things, such as someone’s health.
Outside of his house, Khovanets does not have much power, but he can act as a mediator and negotiate with other magical creatures living near the village, often sharing his rewards with them.
This particular house devil is named Levko. He is quite experienced and successful in his craft, which can be seen from the array of jewelry. Levko is an authority among local spirits of the harvest and forest creatures, so they do not harm the people of the village.
